In a new report Concord Danmark and DanWatch are drawing attention to the severe lack of taxation legislation which is responsible for keeping Ghana and other developing countries, which are rich in natural resources, in poverty.

Despite their low tax contributions, the mining industry nonetheless does contribute to Ghana's economy. However, the industry also entails large socio-economic and environmental costs for the country. The current tax revenues are not sufficient to cover the costs.
